About the role
Reporting to the Director of Public Sector, the Public Sector New Business Lead will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and developing and winning new business opportunities within the UK public sector. Working in close collaboration with our Public Sector bidding, strategy and marketing colleagues you will lead on new business opportunities and initiatives from inception to close. You will be working with a close knit and supportive team.
You will build strong relationships with key stakeholders, understand their needs, and present our digital transformation solutions effectively. You will play a crucial role in expanding our Public Sector client base and contributing to our continued success.
Key Responsibilities
Opportunity Identification & Qualification
- Proactively research and identify new business opportunities within the UK public sector.
- Continually review and qualify inbound opportunities that come to us via the public sector frameworks
- Utilise market intelligence, networking, and online resources to identify potential clients and projects.
- Maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities.
Relationship Building & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within target public sector organisations.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Represent Valtech professionally and build brand awareness.
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations, proposals and bids/tenders to potential clients.
- Understand client requirements and tailor our solutions to meet their specific needs.
- Collaborate with strategic, technical and delivery teams to develop effective solutions and proposals.
- Manage the sales process from initial contact to contract signing.
- Work with marketing to create targeted campaigns and activity.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Stay up-to-date on public sector trends, policies, and procurement frameworks.
- Conduct competitor analysis and identify market opportunities.
- Provide regular reports on sales activities, pipeline progress, and market insights.
- Maintain accurate CRM data.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Public Sector bid team and subject matter experts from across the business to deliver tenders and proposals to an exceptional winning standard.
- Work closely with the client services and delivery team to ensure a smooth handoff of awarded opportunities.
- Collaborate with marketing to generate leads and support campaigns.
Essential Skills & Experience:
You’ll have a wealth of previous experience working within the digital consultancy world, selling a broad range of digital expertise, including Data & AI, digital public services and back-office systems.
You will have a keen interest in the UK Public Sector landscape, with a commitment to improving government services for our citizens and partners, helping to keep the UK safe, secure, prosperous and fair for all.
- Previous experience in selling digital services/consultancy to the UK public sector. A knowledge of common frameworks and procurement processes will be advantageous.
- A strong proposal and bid writer, you will work alongside a skilled bid team, but will be a skilled contributor to public sector bids and commercial responses.
- Proven and demonstrable previous experience navigating complex and challenging negotiations
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience of various sales methodologies and techniques that you can utilise to remove blockers and move opportunities along.
- We are looking for those with strong leadership and team working capabilities who can lead from the front and bring a team together when working on RFPs/tenders and pitches.
- Excellent time, planning, and project management skills keeping yourself and those you are collaborating with organised and focussed.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. You will be a great listener and be able to communicate complex or technical information in an engaging and accessible way.
- You will demonstrate resilience, attention to detail and a commitment to problem solving. Being creative and thinking strategically in order to achieve targets.
- You’ll be commercially astute and skilled at navigating complex negotiations.
