About the Role
As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will play a key role in managing projects for our strategic clients, where we are seen as trusted consultants and experts. You can be based out of either one of our buzzing Munich, Dusseldorf or Cologne offices. Your responsibilities will involve leading and executing complex projects from start to finish while ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. This role operates under the principle of "freedom with accountability." You are responsible for setting your own schedule, planning projects, and determining how to achieve objectives. Your decisions directly impact team goals and project success. You engage with users and customers, ensuring their needs are met, and allocate resources effectively. Complex problems, whether technical or professional, are your domain, and you're accountable for resolving them. As an expert in your field, you stay current on trends and share knowledge with your team. You bridge technical and non-technical communication, selecting the best tools and methods for each situation.
Key responsibilities
- Manage Projects Independently: Oversee projects of various sizes from start to finish.
- Ensure Timely Delivery: Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Evaluate Dependencies: Analyze product and team dependencies to set milestones.
- Manage Changes: Handle scope, budget, time, and resource changes with a structured process.
- Mitigate Risks: Identify risks, adjust plans, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Resolve Issues Proactively: Address quality, performance, and customer concerns early.
- Build Stakeholder Relationships: Maintain strong communication with key stakeholders.
- Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Ensure smooth collaboration across disciplines.
- Communicate with Technical Teams: Work closely with developers, database administrators, architects, and other specialists.
- Represent Projects to Leadership: Present project status to leadership and the executive team.
- Coach the team: Mentor and coach the team to create a healthy work culture aiming to build a high performing team.
- Promote Lean Mindset: Optimize processes, run efficient meetings, and allow focus time for the team.
- Drive Business Development: Identify opportunities to address client pain points and grow accounts.
- Support Pitches and RFPs: Contribute to pitches and RFP responses to win new projects.
- Share Knowledge: Spread project management expertise within the organization.
Essential Experience
- Degree in computer science, business informatics, or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of professional experience in project management, preferably on technical solutions using DXP/Commerce platforms.
- Demonstrated success in delivering multiple IT projects both as part of a program with interdependencies and as standalone initiatives.
- Proven track record of delivering projects under fixed price contracting model.
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Experience in developing product roadmap and release planning.
- Experience managing international, distributed, and multicultural project teams.
- Solid understanding of project management tools like JIRA, Confluence
- Solid background in IT infrastructure operations.
- Solid understanding of building project plans based on estimations, staffing model, risks and dependencies
- Strong understanding of technical architectures, interfaces and system integrations.
- Excellent analytical skills, structured approach and quick comprehension of complex topics.
- Meticulous, detail-oriented, and committed to meeting deadlines.
- Independent, solution-oriented work ethic.
- Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and German
Nice to Have:
- Experience in delivering IT solutions using DXP platforms such as Sitecore, Optimizely, Contentful, Adobe, and eCommerce platforms like SAP Commerce or Commerce Tools.
- Familiarity with cloud environments.
- Knowledge of GDPR, WCAG, and IT security best practices.
- Knowledge of SEO and Analytics best practices.
- Certifications in project management (GPM, PRINCE2, PMI).
