Valtech is looking for a Lead Backend Developer based in Stockholm. A day in the life of a Lead Backend Developer

Your role as a Lead Backend Developer and a consultant at Valtech will not only entail providing technical expertise but also understanding the business needs of our clients and effectively communicating how our solutions can address their challenges and contribute to their success.

Your responsibilities will encompass every stage of client engagements, from initial discovery to final delivery. This will involve close collaboration with local and regional project teams, both internally at Valtech and alongside our valued clients.

In addition, you will:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain innovative solutions that meet client requirements
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and methodologies
• Work with modern development practices, including CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automated testing
• Help maintain system documentation and participate in project reviews
• Actively participate in client meetings, workshops, and presentations to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle

You and the role

You are a developer at lead level with at least 7 years of experience in the field of backend-end development. As a person, you are flexible and adaptable to changes, and can see yourself thriving in working in a highly innovative fast-paced start-up like environment.

We would love if you have

• A relevant technical education or equivalent level of experience within the following areas or similar: computer science, software engineering, application development, backend engineering
• At least 7 years of professional experience in backend development, ideally in an agile project environment
• Preferable professional working experience from IT consultancy, digital agency, start-up or similar fast-paced working environment
• Proven track record of effectively engaging with stakeholders and identifying opportunities to add value to their projects
• Flexibility to work on-site in and around Stockholm multiple times a week
• Engage with our clients' stakeholders from both IT and Business aligning our solutions to provide business value
• You understand the client business and challenges.
• You guide the client into decision making.
• You see the holistic view of an assignment and not just your part.
• Within your leadership you have the ability to develop others and help them grow within their role.
• You can work in bigger and complex projects.

Your technical skills should include:

• Solid knowledge of both Java and .NET
• Experience working with cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Ideally, you are comfortable working with containerized solutions (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Any experience or interest to work with Kotlin will be considered as a plus but is not required for this role
• Experience working in agile working environment with tools like Jira and Confluence
